News You Can Use Noticeboard
The Committee for Wyndham is committed to assisting our community to get through this difficult time, so we've launched the News You Can Use Noticeboard.
We are aware that many businesses are adjusting their operations to current circumstances and wanted to ensure that we let the wider community know.
There is no cost to list on the Noticeboard, and this information will be circulated weekly to our entire mailing list. Please forward us a brief paragraph.
Rick O'Connor has a letterbox distribution company - Right On Course - and has been working on a way to get residents to support local restaurants. He has put together a flyer that will advertise 6 different restaurants. Rick is now looking for businesses to advertise their food offerings. He also has paid walking jobs for pamphlet distribution.
At last week's Business Connect Wyndham two participants asked for feedback from meeting attendees.
They're both important questions so we thought we would post them on the noticeboard to gain wider feedback.........
The Gordon's CEO Joe Ormeno asked:
The Gordon has been gearing up to support the unemployed with some short, focussed courses to support the return to work across a number of industries. Unfortunately with so many having lost employment during COVID-19, as we enter the recovery phase, what do you see as the skills and training requirements to quickly gear up workforces?
Let's get Wyndham skilled and work ready.
Cr Heather Marcus who facilitates the Wyndham Fashion Awards is also asking for ideas:
My concerns are the students from Fashion Awards. The students are begging me not to cancel. We are now looking how we can help them so that they can still show the work this year. Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Here's a list of what they're doing, along with a few photos
- all staff at CDC depots (Victoria wide) get their temperature taken when they first arrive at the bus depots
- "No cash handling" on all buses so passengers must have a topped card as drivers can no longer handle cash.
- all staff have also been issued with hand sanitiser and encouraged to wash their hands often
- all buses are cleaned regularly and routinely disinfected to stop the spread of germs (includes cleaning of all touch points and drivers cabin)
- use of fogging machines with antibacterial and sanitising mist to completely sanitise all buses routinely photo
