Federal Budget 2025–26: Where Is the Vision for Business?

The recently announced Federal Budget was an opportunity—an opportunity to energise the business sector, provide certainty, and demonstrate a strong commitment to Australia’s economic engine room.

While the budget includes some modest and welcome measures, there is still a clear opportunity for a more ambitious, future-focused approach—one that better reflects the aspirations of the business community. In high-growth regions like Wyndham, where a diverse and dynamic business ecosystem continues to thrive, the potential for greater investment in resilience, innovation, and long-term economic development remains strong.

Initiatives such as energy bill relief, continued apprenticeship incentives, and ongoing support for cybersecurity are positive steps, offering some relief and reinforcing key capabilities. However, these measures are incremental and fall short of the broader, strategic investment needed to unlock sustained growth and confidence across the sector.

What remains missing is a bold plan: one that recognises business not just as part of the economy, but as its future.

While there have been some helpful steps, further attention is still needed to support entrepreneurs and growing businesses. Clearer strategies around digital transformation, access to capital, and regional development would provide greater confidence and momentum for businesses looking to scale.

In Wyndham, where local business is not only the economic engine but also a cornerstone of community life, this budget was a chance to address challenges head-on—from rising costs and workforce development to infrastructure and innovation. It was a moment to act with clarity and confidence.

The message from the business community is clear: it’s a call for leadership, but also partnership and vision. Rather than seeking handouts, businesses are looking for stability, forward-thinking investment, and a supportive environment that enables sustainable growth. They value recognition of their vital role in job creation, innovation, and community wellbeing—and welcome policies that reflect and reinforce that contribution.

At the Committee for Wyndham, we will continue to advocate strongly for the needs of our members and the broader business community. We’ll continue to engage with government, contribute to policy conversations, and push for strategies that recognise the full potential of our region.

To our members: we invite you to share your thoughts on what this budget means for your business and how we can amplify your voice. Together, we can help shape a stronger, more forward-looking economic future—for Wyndham and beyond.
