Committee for Wyndham members were given a rare behind-the-scenes look at Mainstream Recycling’s Truganina facility, where waste is transformed into high-value resources that drive the circular economy.
During the guided tour, Nathan Hines detailed how stormwater contents, street sweeper waste, drilling muds, soils, and slurries are repurposed into quality recycled products such as concrete materials, organic soils, and other valuable resources.
Members learned how Mainstream Recycling diverts waste from landfill and contributes to sustainable development through its end-to-end recycling process. The process begins with waste collection—either directly by Mainstream or through contractors—followed by on-site separation and recovery, with materials ultimately repurposed into sand, clay, recyclables, water, and agricultural products.
Mainstream Recycling operates multiple licensed facilities across Australia and New Zealand, including sites in Truganina and Geelong, accessible 24 hours a day.
The tour offered members an engaging opportunity to connect with industry leaders, gain new insights, and explore innovative approaches to sustainability that can inspire positive business and community impact.
