Peter came to Werribee in 1962 when it was a country town of 6000 people. He was offered his first job after qualifying as a pharmacist by Hinton Lowe and soon became a contributor to the community. Highlights include:
- Married Elizabeth also a pharmacist in 1968 and opened Ross’s Pharmacy in Station Street which they operated for 30 years
- Foundation member of the Werribee Theatre Company and was President for 4 years – Treasurer for 20 years
- Acted in many plays ranging from Professor Higgins in Pygmalion to the villain in the melodrama ‘Blush’
- Member of Werribee Jaycees –President in 1970
- Member of the Werribee Rotary Club since 1978 –President in 1986 & 1987
- President of the Werribee Chamber of Commerce
- Councillor in the Wyndham Council for 11 years including a term as Mayor in 2005
- Initiated the Committee for Werribee (now Wyndham) 16 years ago and was Chairman for the first 4 years and Deputy Chairman for 10 years
- Member of the Werribee River Recovery Committee
- Chairman of Wyndham Council’s Arts Committee
- Initiated and chaired the Council’s Anti-grafitti Committee
- Chaired the ‘Save the Werribee Pool’ Committee
- Actively lobbied as member of an Arts Committee and as a councilor was involved in the project to have Centenary Hall in Watton St rebuilt as the Wyndham Cultural Centre
- Treasurer of the Werribee Chamber of Commerce
- Member of the Market Committee
- Director of the Wyndham Cultural Foundation
- Recipient of the Committee for Wyndham’s Foundation Award in December 2014.
