Western Melbourne Local Jobs Program

The Western Melbourne Local Jobs Program is place-based approach to workforce development, connecting local people with local jobs through strong partnerships, industry collaboration and data-driven planning.

Led by Kylie Olsen, Job Coordinator, and supported by Sarah Goldsmith, Support Officer, the program works across the Western Melbourne Employment Region, including Wyndham, Melton, Brimbank, Hobsons Bay and Maribyrnong.

Together, Kylie and Sarah bring employers, training providers, community organisations and employment services to the table to strengthen workforce participation and align local skills with industry demand.

Through the region’s Local Jobs Plan and Local Jobs and Skills Taskforce, they drive collaborative initiatives across priority industries, including transport and logistics, healthcare and social assistance, major infrastructure projects, and pathways for youth, women, multicultural communities, and First Nations peoples.

The program delivers industry insight sessions, employment expos, employer engagement activities and community-led initiatives designed to address workforce shortages while supporting inclusive employment outcomes.

At its core, the Western Melbourne Local Jobs Program exists to ensure that opportunity is local, partnerships are purposeful, and employment pathways are accessible to the diverse communities of Melbourne’s west.
